"The Residence on the Mountain of Fire"
The temple, designed by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, is built entirely from natural materials and features numerous paintings and decorations. Rays corresponding to the eight directions of the mandala spread out from its center, represented by a lotus flower. The eight sides of the temple are adorned with depictions of the principal masters of all Tibetan spiritual traditions and divinities with peaceful, ferocious, and joyful aspects.
A stupa is a reliquary monument representing the enlightened state of mind. Its function is to promote the welfare and prosperity of the surrounding environment.
This building houses the Mandala Hall, where the Dance of the Vajra is performed, the Library with its important collection of texts in Tibetan, English, and Italian, and the Archives of the Community and the Shang Shung Foundation.
